Veeam uses one of the following methods:
B. Helper host (original host)
The original Linux host can act as the helper host during restore.
Veeam connects to it over SSH and mounts the file system from the backup to restore directly back to that machine.
Ideal when the target server is online and reachable.
D. Temporary helper appliance
If the original host isn’t available, Veeam can deploy a temporary Linux helper appliance (for example, in vSphere or Hyper-V environments).
This appliance is used to read the file system from the backup and transfer the restored file to the destination.
