Selected Answer: D
Albedo measures a material’s ability to reflect solar radiation. Light-colored paving and cool roofs have high albedo, meaning they reflect more sunlight and absorb less heat. Emissivity measures a material’s ability to release absorbed heat. High-emissivity materials effectively radiate heat away, helping reduce surface and surrounding air temperatures. Together, high albedo and high emissivity help mitigate the urban heat island effect.
